More about The WoodlandsThe Woodlands High School is the largest high school in Texas, both in terms of its area (it extends over three campuses) and in terms of the number of students (over 4,900). This school is ranked 567 on Newsweeks 2005 list of the Best High Schools in America. The Woodlands Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 55,649 people, 19,881 households, and 15,546 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 917.8/km² (2,377.3/mi²). There are 21,014 housing units at an average density of 346.6/km² (897.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 92.36% White, 1.75% African American, 0.29% Native American, 2.80% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.43% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. 6.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 19,881 households out of which 47.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.2% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% are non-families. 19.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.21. In the CDP the population is spread out with 31.8% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.5 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $85,253, and the median income for a family is $98,675. Males have a median income of $78,642 versus $38,505 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $37,724. 4.2% of the population and 3.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.0% of those under the age of 18 and 10.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
