More about Longview Longview is a city located in Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 73,344. It is the county seat of Gregg County, with a small portion extending east into neighboring Harrison County. It is situated in East Texas, on the grid of Interstate 20 and U.S. Highways 80 and 259. There are 28,363 households out of which 33.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% are married couples living together, 14.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% are non-families. 27.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.06. In the city the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 10.8% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.4 males. There are three school districts - Longview, Spring Hill, and Pine Tree. Spring Hill Independent School District will not allow students from other districts to transfer in.
