More about Round RockRound Rock is a city located in Williamson County, Texas. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city had a total population of 61,136. The city is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area, a title designated by the U.S. Census as of 2003. The name derives from a round rock formation in the middle of Brushy Creek (see picture). Round Rock is headquarters to Dell, Inc. Round Rock is home to the Class AAA Pacific Coast League minor league baseball team Round Rock Express, which is owned by (and named for) Nolan Ryan. Round Rock calls itself the Sports Capital of Texas. Round Rock Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 61,136 people, 21,076 households, and 15,933 families residing in the city. The population density is 903.0/km² (2,339.1/mi²). There are 21,766 housing units at an average density of 321.5/km² (832.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 76.76% White, 7.72% African American, 0.50% Native American, 2.89% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 9.47% from other races, and 2.56% from two or more races. 22.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 21,076 households out of which 47.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% are non-families. 18.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.87 and the average family size is 3.29. In the city the population is spread out with 31.9% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 38.8% from 25 to 44, 16.3% from 45 to 64, and 4.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.3 males. The median income for a household in the city is $60,354, and the median income for a family is $65,471. Males have a median income of $41,971 versus $30,807 for females. The per capita income for the city is $24,911. 4.0% of the population and 2.8% of families are below the poverty line.
