Bellville Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,773 people, 751 households, and 504 families residing in the village. The population density is 237.7/km² (615.9/mi²). There are 799 housing units at an average density of 107.1/km² (277.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.82% White, 0.23% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 751 households out of which 30.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.5% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.93. In the village the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.6 males. The median income for a household in the village is $34,492, and the median income for a family is $47,083. Males have a median income of $36,458 versus $21,800 for females. The per capita income for the village is $17,923. 9.3% of the population and 6.2% of families are below the poverty line.
