More about Huber Heights Huber Heights is a city located in Miami and Montgomery counties in Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 38,212. Begun in 1956, Huber Heights is a collection of housing developments often called "Americas largest community of brick homes." Huber Heights is Dayton, Ohios second largest suburb. Huber Heights Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 38,212 people, 14,392 households, and 10,779 families residing in the city. The population density is 701.6/km² (1,817.2/mi²). There are 14,938 housing units at an average density of 274.3/km² (710.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 84.88% White, 9.78% African American, 0.28% Native American, 2.18% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 2.25% from two or more races. 1.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 14,392 households out of which 36.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.7% are married couples living together, 12.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.1% are non-families. 20.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.05. In the city the population is spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.8 males. The median income for a household in the city is $49,073, and the median income for a family is $53,579. Males have a median income of $40,099 versus $28,723 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,951. 5.9% of the population and 4.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.6% of those under the age of 18 and 5.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
