Wayne Township is governed under the Faulkner Act (Mayor-Council) system of municipal government. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.19. In the township the population is spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 90.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.4 males. The median income for a household in the township is $83,651, and the median income for a family is $95,114. Males have a median income of $61,271 versus $39,835 for females.
