More about Grand Blanc Grand Blanc is a city located in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 8,242. The city is situated within Grand Blanc Charter Township, but is politically independent. Grand Blanc Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 8,242 people, 3,542 households, and 2,153 families residing in the city. The population density is 848.6/km² (2,197.3/mi²). There are 3,725 housing units at an average density of 383.5/km² (993.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 89.17% White, 5.01% African American, 0.27% Native American, 3.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 1.76% from two or more races. 1.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,542 households out of which 30.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% are married couples living together, 8.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.2% are non-families. 33.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.98. In the city the population is spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.6 males. The median income for a household in the city is $54,099, and the median income for a family is $82,456. Males have a median income of $61,522 versus $31,051 for females. The per capita income for the city is $32,622. 5.5% of the population and 3.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.3% of those under the age of 18 and 3.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
