More about Lake Orion Lake Orion is a village located in Oakland County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,715. Lake Orion Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,715 people, 1,198 households, and 633 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,379.3/km² (3,575.4/mi²). There are 1,320 housing units at an average density of 670.6/km² (1,738.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.79% White, 0.26% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 2.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,198 households out of which 24.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 47.1% are non-families. 38.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.99. In the village the population is spread out with 20.3% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 33.6% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.7 males. The median income for a household in the village is $51,311, and the median income for a family is $71,250. Males have a median income of $51,012 versus $37,802 for females. The per capita income for the village is $28,671. 5.6% of the population and 1.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.1% of those under the age of 18 and 21.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
