More about Schriever Schriever is a census-designated place and town located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,880. Schriever Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,880 people, 2,000 households, and 1,581 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 158.0/km² (409.3/mi²). There are 2,127 housing units at an average density of 57.1/km² (148.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 73.08% White, 24.13% African American, 0.94% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.46% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 1.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,000 households out of which 41.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% are married couples living together, 14.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.9% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.94 and the average family size is 3.29. In the CDP the population is spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 11.4% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.6 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $38,884, and the median income for a family is $42,982. Males have a median income of $33,338 versus $21,477 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $14,449. 12.8% of the population and 10.0% of families are below the poverty line.
