More about Cary Cary is a village located in McHenry County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 15,531. A 2003 special census put the villages population at 17,827. Cary Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 15,531 people, 4,962 households, and 4,108 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,142.2/km² (2,956.3/mi²). There are 5,037 housing units at an average density of 370.4/km² (958.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 95.53% White, 0.39% African American, 0.15% Native American, 1.35% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.84% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 5.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,962 households out of which 52.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.9% are married couples living together, 7.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.2% are non-families. 14.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.12 and the average family size is 3.48. In the village the population is spread out with 34.8% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 33.8% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 6.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.7 males. The median income for a household in the village is $76,801, and the median income for a family is $82,568. Males have a median income of $58,077 versus $32,851 for females. The per capita income for the village is $26,903. 1.3% of the population and 0.8% of families are below the poverty line.
