More about Poinciana Poinciana is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area located in Osceola County, Florida and Polk County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 13,647. Poinciana Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 13,647 people, 4,153 households, and 3,563 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 150.1/km² (388.7/mi²). There are 4,590 housing units at an average density of 50.5/km² (130.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 65.10% White, 17.73% African American, 0.48% Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 9.90% from other races, and 5.66% from two or more races. 39.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,153 households out of which 50.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.5% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.2% are non-families. 10.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.29 and the average family size is 3.49. In the CDP the population is spread out with 34.1% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.0 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $37,172, and the median income for a family is $37,688. Males have a median income of $26,860 versus $20,934 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $12,590. 12.8% of the population and 12.0% of families are below the poverty line.
