Pinellas Park Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 45,658 people, 19,444 households, and 12,152 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,195.2/km² (3,095.8/mi²). There are 21,843 housing units at an average density of 571.8/km² (1,481.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 89.04% White, 2.09% African American, 0.39% Native American, 4.25% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.00% from other races, and 2.22% from two or more races. 6.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 19,444 households out of which 25.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.6% are married couples living together, 11.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.31 and the average family size is 2.84. In the city the population is spread out with 21.4% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.9 males. The median income for a household in the city is $35,048, and the median income for a family is $41,072. Males have a median income of $28,208 versus $24,505 for females. The per capita income for the city is $18,701. 9.3% of the population and 6.5% of families are below the poverty line.
