There are 6,456 housing units at an average density of 706.1/km² (1,829.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 87.01% White, 0.50% African American, 0.42% Native American, 3.46% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 5.59% from other races, and 2.89% from two or more races. 14.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 5,754 households out of which 20.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.3% are married couples living together, 6.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.0% are non-families. 31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.83. In the city the population is spread out with 17.9% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.5 males. The median income for a household in the city is $71,774, and the median income for a family is $96,652. Males have a median income of $72,028 versus $41,186 for females. The per capita income for the city is $48,547. 6.7% of the population and 3.4% of families are below the poverty line.
