More about Cypress Cypress is a city located near the northern border of Orange County, California, USA. Though it is considered to be a suburb of Long Beach, it has many resident industries. Cypress was originally incorporated under the name Dairy City in 1956, but it was soon changed. As of May 2005 estimates, the city had a total population of 48,863. Golfer Tiger Woods was born in the city, in a house next door to famous toothpick sculptor Matthew Parkhill. The average household size is 2.93 and the average family size is 3.31. In the city the population is spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.5 males. The median income for a household in the city is $64,377, and the median income for a family is $70,060. Males have a median income of $50,781 versus $36,337 for females. The per capita income for the city is $25,798. 6.0% of the population and 4.6% of families are below the poverty line.
