The city is a focus city of the Greater Los Angeles Area. But a July 1, 2002 Census estimate put the fast-growing citys population at 274,226. The average household size is 3.02 and the average family size is 3.54. In the city the population is spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 12.9% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
